At the 35th International Congress of the ISBT in Toronto 3 webcasts of the “Plenary Session Platelets” were recorded. We are pleased to announce that these webcasts are now available on ISBT Education. Jonathan Thon explained what directed differentiation process is and how it is used to produce platelets from human megakaryocytes. Matthew Rondina demonstrated how platelets sense and respond to viral pathogens such as Dengue. Finally, Katerina Pavenski introduced platelet refractoriness and described what can be done to prevent and manage alloimmune platelet refractoriness.
